ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers are community health workers who work in rural areas as part of the National Health Mission (NHM). ASHA workers are an important link connecting the community with the healthcare system.

✓ Key Responsibilities

Ensure necessary healthcare services for pregnant women and postpartum mothers.

Promote and monitor immunization of children.

Provide awareness about family planning services.

Provide health education on nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.

Report communicable diseases and participate in preventive activities.

Provide basic first aid and refer patients to healthcare institutions when necessary.

Assist in conducting health surveys and implementing government health schemes.

To make primary healthcare services easily accessible to rural communities, improve maternal and child health, and promote health awareness among the community.
